Starting Cost: DIY travel & lodging
The University of Texas-Dallas is host to one of the largest populations of international students in the United States. The team that travels to Dallas will participate in the annual Garage Giveaway Outreach by collecting, organizing, and delivering furniture and other household needs to brand new students. This is a way to build relationships to share the Gospel with students all over the world.
The 516Missions Team will be working alongside missionary Daren Clements and the International Christian Fellowship near the campus of UTD. There are many ways to help with this experience. You can also donate furniture throughout the year for us to store until the event. If you have a pick-up truck, we will need as many as possible to make this event a success. We will have a room full of housewares and need help organizing everything that has been donated. There will also be an opportunity to help the students pick out what they may need for their dorms or apartments. Any and all levels of ability can be utilized with this event.
The ICF focuses on building relationships that last a lifetime with these international students. The furniture giveaway is an open door to begin that relationship. We need manpower to make this a smooth and effective event. We are in need of dining tables, chairs of any sort, desks, small couches, dishes, microwaves, coffee pots, blankets, pillows, beds, mattresses, bookshelves, or other dorm-type furnishings.
